If you’re looking to get off the beaten path, you need a vehicle you will be able to take almost anywhere. This doesn’t, however, need to be some huge pickup truck.
The 2022 Chevy Colorado proves that even smaller models can excel when the pavement ends.
Great Power
Even the base trim of the 2022 Chevy Colorado won’t have problems tackling steep terrain, as it comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque.
Two other engines options are available:
- A 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque
- A turbocharged 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that produces181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque
A six-speed automatic transmission comes with the four-cylinder engines, while the V6 is paired to an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and 4-wheel drive is available.
Excellent Off-Road Ability
If you’re planning to hit the trails, you’ll want either the Z71 or ZR2 trim, as they come with locking front and rear differentials, a heavy-duty suspension system, and hill descent control. The ZR2 will also give you off-road rocker protection, as well as a two-speed transfer case and a transfer case shield.
If you go with the ZR2 Bison, you’ll get AEV bumpers and skid plates and 32-inch off-road tires.
Impressive Towing and Hauling Capability
The base engine in the Chevy Colorado can tow up to 3,500 pounds, but the turbodiesel more than doubles that to 7,700 pounds. If you plan to bring a bring a small boat or a camper on your trip, you should have little trouble doing it.
Come take the Chevy Colorado out for a test drive at Lester Glenn Chevrolet of Freehold to see what it can do.
